Softer Ground
Small-group workshops for moms

A softer place
to land.

Becoming a mother changes everything, including who you are. Softer Ground supports moms through that change with workshops, reflective tools, and community grounded in real clinical knowledge. You give so much to everyone around you. Now it’s your turn.

What we do

Support for moms, built by a psychology major and a nurse.

Three ways in, depending on how much time and energy you have this month.

[Name for the six-month moment]

Somewhere after six months, it hits.

The newborn visits have slowed down. Friends stopped asking you out because you never say yes. You haven’t showered in three days, you’re running on broken sleep, and you and your partner are both a little on edge.

Then you catch yourself in the mirror and wonder who that is. And whether it’s going to be like this forever.

If that’s where you are right now, you’re not crazy, and plenty of other moms are standing right there with you.

Reclaiming You workshops

Ninety minutes that are just for you.

You can love your kids and still miss the life you had before them. Come sit with a group of moms who get it, say the things you can’t say at the playground, and leave feeling more connected to yourself again.

We ask what nobody has time to ask you

Prompts like “How did I walk in today?” and “What’s the one thing making me want to cry right now?” You write first, then share only what you want to.

We explain what’s going on inside you

The mood swings, the fog, the guilt. We walk through the psychology and the body science behind them, in plain language, so you stop blaming yourself for them.

You leave a little lighter

Nobody fixes you, and nobody tells you what to do. You get room to think, a mini journal to take home, and a few moms who know exactly what you mean.

Who we are

Best friends for over 20 years. Moms who called each other crying.

Liz became a mom first, and Annika got a lot of tearful phone calls. When Annika’s turn came, the calls went both ways. The longer we talked, the clearer it got that every mom we knew was carrying the same things and saying none of them out loud.

Liz Psychology background and years behind the chair as a cosmetologist, where people tell you everything.
Annika Nurse who knows the clinical side of what your body and mind go through after a baby.

When you need more

Softer Ground is a place to talk. It isn’t therapy.

If you need more support than a workshop can give, we’ll help you find it. Reaching out is a strong thing to do.

For employers, hospitals, and nonprofits

Help the moms on your team come back well.

There’s a long gap between the six-week checkup and a therapy waitlist. We run workshops for new moms returning to work, and short trainings for HR teams and staff on how to support them and where to point them.
